Above figures represent funds raised and uses of these funds.  Additional disbursements beyond funds currently raised are desired to support commitments to various ongoing childrens programs (nursery school operating costs and child sponsorship costs).  These additional disbursements are subject to receipt of additional funds from donors.  Currently, an additional $7,525.69 is required to be received from donors over the next 7 years to fully fund these desired disbursements.  It is anticipated that future donations will exceed this amount and all desired disbursements will be made.

Initial use of funds focused on what was needed most at the time - emergency food and water and medical treatment.  Current and future disbursements are focusing more on longer term assistance helping people reestablish their livelihood through  micro-credit programs, childrens services, educational scholarships and housing reconstruction.

Significant funding has been provided for a micro-credit program which will provide interest-free loans to individuals in tsunami affected areas of the Hambantota area of Sri Lanka. This funding will initially help 100 families and will expand to 500 families within the next 24 months as loans are paid down.  In addition, loan funds will consistently recycle allowing these funds to help more and more families in the future.  We have also begun sponsorship of a nursery school which will help many needy children and families.  Construction of this facility was completed in late May 2005 and the school opened shortly thereafter.  This sponsorship is of a long term nature with funds to be disbursed annually over many years.

Assistance has been provided to almost all major areas affected by the disaster and to individuals of all ethnic and religious groups.

Note:  In an effort to maximize funds available for distribution to those in need, no travel related costs have been incurred by the fund.  All air travel and hotel costs have been paid for personally by David Lettas.
