MOVIE THEATERS

There are several cinemas in Colombo offering recently released English, Hindi and other language movies. Show times can be found in daily newspapers or online at the following site, where you can also purchase your tickets in advance (which can be a good idea as sometime shows sell out and you won’t have to wait in line at the box office!):

If you are looking for a nightclub in Colombo, your best bet is to go to one of the upscale hotels that have their own nightclubs. Most clubs will charge an entrance fee - make sure you know what the cover charge may be before you enter. While you won’t have problems at the major hotel clubs, some other clubs may have outrageous entrance fees which you may not know about until you want to leave.

There are also bars of various types where you can enjoy your favorite drink in the type of environment you are looking for.

And, if you like to sing, you can visit one of several karaoke clubs.

Keep in mind that on Poya Days (full moon day once a month) and certain other government mandated days (such as election days), alcohol is not permitted to be served.
